The Paper 12/10/65

These are two newspapers from 1965 published in East Lansing, Michigan (REPRESENT! HOLLA) . A journalist named Laurence Tate went to an antiwar demonstration to check out what was going on and experienced the feel of a protest. Many people happened to be passionate about this protest, they were shouting and became outraged whenever one of the soldiers spoke against them. One protester actually said, “I’d rather see America save her soul than her face.” Which most likely meant that the protester believed the war was about pride and would rather have the US swallow their pride than have their citizens die.
